Geoff gave me all of the advice I needed to start the build which was basically "just find the parts that work and do it". I got in contact with Geoff Maloney who had done the YZ450F super singles at GP Tech. I know the topic of super singles has been done dozens of times but I haven't really seen a CR250 super single before (if you don't include the Tulda CR500, etc).

Since I didn't get it properly registered in Arizona at the time and California is known for being a pain to register two strokes for the road in general, at least from what I found, I decided to do something incredibly stupid and see if we can turn it into a road racing machine. This is what I ended up with after the "sumo conversion". Everything else was almost a complete bolt on. The '00-01 swingarms have a 25mm rear axle so I could use the CRF wheels just fine. You can find a video of the sumo build on my channel but I basically got some CRF450 supermoto wheels and swapped to a 2000 CR250 swingarm. It had a 3 gallon desert tank and the PO polished the hell out of the frame. I think I paid $750 for it with a few extras like cylinder and exhaust. I didn't have a good picture of it when I got it, but this guy started pretty much complete and in terribly bad shape. I ended up traveling to Europe for awhile and the bike sat in storage for a year before I pulled it out and moved to California. I finished that build, sort of, and did some episodes of it on Youtube. It was originally a project to convert it into a supermoto while I lived in Phoenix.

We are looking at a CR250 1997 that I have been working on since 2016.

(If you prefer video to text you can watch it here ).įirst, a little back story about this bike.
#CR250R IBOOSTER F1 SERIES#
This build is part of a Youtube series I am running but I wanted to share it specifically with other riders. Hello! I'm new to these forums but figured some people may be interested in a build I have going on.
